Tom is a graduate of Kenyon College (cum laude) and The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law (with honors). He is admitted to practice in Ohio, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, with over 30 years experience in commercial and business litigation, general civil litigation, employment, construction, product liability, toxic tort and personal injury litigation.

Tom is a member of the American, Ohio State, and Dayton Bar Associations and a certified mediator for the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio. Tom's professional honors include Fellow, American College of Trial Lawyers, and Fellow, Litigation Counsel of America. Tom is rated av by Martindale Hubble and is an Ohio Super Lawyer and a Super Lawyer - Business Litigation. His professional memberships include Master, Inns of Court; the International Association of Defense Counsel; the Defense Research Institute; the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys; the American Association for Justice; the Ohio Association For Justice; and the American College of Equine Attorneys.

Tom's commitment to community service is seen in his leadership and service activities with organizations such as the Clean Ohio Trails Fund Advisory Board (member), the Ohio Horsemens' Council (director), the Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project (volunteer), Rhythm in Shoes, Inc.(president, board of directors), the Kettering Rotary Foundation (founding board member), the Dayton Country Club, Inc.(past president and board member), and teaching trial practice at the University of Dayton School of Law.
