Fred Young, shareholder at Green & Green, Lawyers, gave two recent presentations on Ohio’s Notary Public Modernization Act, S.B. 263, which was signed into law in December 2018 by then-Governor John Kasich. Among its provisions, the new law creates the ability of properly trained and registered notaries public to perform online notarizations, allows for e-notarizations, creates standard education and testing requirements for notaries public, and requires background checks for notaries public. Fred presented a CLE with Allison DeSantis, Director of Business Services and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, on August 28, 2019, through the Dayton Bar Association, which remains available at the DBA for video playback. Fred also presented on the topic tothe Paralegal Section of the DBA during the section members’ October 24, 2019, meeting the the courtroom of Judge Mary Wiseman at the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
