Fred obtained his degree in finance from Ohio University and his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the state of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Ohio State and Dayton Bar Associations. Fred has over 25 years of litigation experience. His practice focuses on litigation, business and commercial matters. He has extensive experience in business and contract litigation, as well as the defense and prosecution of personal injury claims.

In the litigation arena, Fred works to advance and protect his client’s interests in an efficient and effective manner. He seeks sensible resolution to disputes through the effective use of discovery and communications with courts and counsel. He is adept at engaging in alternative methods of dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. If the case cannot be resolved, he is effective in preparing and presenting the case at trial, and if necessary, on appeal. In addition to cases before courts in Ohio, Fred handles cases with the American Arbitration Association.

As an example of the breadth of his experience, Fred had the opportunity to expand his work outside of Ohio and into California in a novel case. He reached a successful resolution in a case for his client filed in the Federal District Court for the Southern District of California involving unique concrete and military shoot house construction issues. The case took him throughout the country for depositions of a broad range of government representatives, federal contractors and other related personnel. The results of these depositions brought to light many issues the opposing parties had not considered when they originally denied the client's claim for payment and allowed for a settlement favorable to the client without the need for an extraordinarily expensive trial.

In addition to his litigation practice, Fred also represents small to medium-sized businesses in start-up organization, operating agreements, corporate by-laws, partnership agreements, employment agreements and contract drafting. Fred often presents to business and community groups on various business and litigation topics.

Fred is a member of the Inn of Court. He also served the Dayton Bar Association as member-at-large, Second Vice President, and First Vice President of the Board of Trustees. He was honored to serve as President of the DBA for the 2020-2021 term. Now that he has completed his service on the DBA Board of Trustees, Fred is focused on the Dayton Bar Foundation and was elected to serve as its Vice President for the 2023-2024 term.

Fred is an avid cook, and a collector of vintage vinyl and audio equipment. He and his wife enjoy travel, golf and spending time with family and friends. Both enjoy concerts and live theater. He and his wife are supporters of the Middletown Lyric Theater. Fred is also a member of the Dayton Bicycle Club.
